1st place and closest to the pin saw Gary Millier (36pts) clean up at Monmouth. Prior to the event Gary had told me “I have decided to take my golf seriously this year” Kola Solanki (36pts) 2nd place, after count back and Gene Lewis (35pts) in a close third place.

Weather was fantastic, Sunshine all the way and the course was in great condition.

The food, steak and ale pie, with chips and peas was very good.

This event saw the introduction of a new trophy, the wooden spoon. The honours went to Eddy Martin, who accepted his prize and the banter that accompanied it, in good spirit.
